Euro car parks penalty

I thought i was pretty good at avoiding motoring fines but have been hit with an invoice from ecp.

I went in a pay and display car park, paid for an hour went off and came back within the hour.

However i was sat in the car for 10 mins while on the phone and then decided to stay another hour so bought another ticket.

On leaving the car park i must have been there a total of just over two hours and only paid for two so they have fined me £85 or -£50 if paid early.

I nevet imagined id be fine for sitting in the car! I imagined they wanted my reg number to stop people sharing tickets. So i thoughtit was ok to sit a few mins as long as a warden didnt catch me.

Is it safe to ignore the letters like ive done on previous occasions?

Thanks

James

It is neither a fine nor a penalty, have you read the stickies? Also, read about grace periods here

its not a PENALTY nor a FINE , its an INVOICE which you did mention once , so call it that , or a pcn which is what they call it

read the advice in the NEWBIES sticky thread and follow it , it is up to date and the best free advice in the UK

once a paid for period has ended , the driver is trespassing , plus these companies tend to use ANPR which is why you dont see a "warden" , its also a reason why the VRM is required (never mind not sharing tickets)

in future , park on a public highway where there is free parking to make or receive phone calls etc

I just wanted to know if the ignore strategy still works.a couple of years ago or so i had a couple of private pcns who sent 3-4 letters over a yearor more but appear to have given up chasing me. The newbie guide immediately goes into appeals letters.

Ignoring stopped being completely viable back in 2012. It can still be effective with some companies and in some situations - Details are laid-out in the Newbies Sticky, which is fully up to date.

so not 6 years ago then ?

IGNORE has only worked once 6 years has elapsed (the deadline for a court case)

so unless or until 6 years has elapsed you dont know if IGNORE has worked or not

come back once 6 years has elapsed, or if you get an LBC or MCOL in the post

in the meantime , use post #1 of the NEWBIES sticky thread if making an initial appeal to the PPC , and post #3 if making an appeal to POPLA if a POPLA CODE has been issued

use post #4 if dealing with debt collectors

If euro car parks only has one court case in a year from thousands of tickets then am i not safe to ignore them?
