Cancelling contracts when moving abroad

TalkTalk (broadband and TV), EE (mobile phone) and ADT (burglar alarm) are all refusing to let me cancel my contracts and state that moving abroad is not an acceptable reason. Does anyone have any suggestions - don't really want to be paying £100 a month for services I'm not using, nor do I want to pay nearly £1000 in cancellation fees.
Thanks

They are legally correct. You took out the contracts and if you cancel you will be charged a cancellation fee, which from what I have read will be the outstanding amount on your contract. If you are moving permanently you could just leave and cancel your direct debits but if you come back you will probably find you have judgements against you on your credit file. The easiest thing is to pay the fees and move on. Unless anyone else has any better advice.0

Death or Bankruptcy acceptable reasons .0

It is your choice to move abroad, by doing so you are breaking the contracts and they can and do charge cancellation fees.0

You could try speaking to them and see if you can come to a compromise where you pay some but not all the remaining contract, but they are correct. Double check the T&C's for any notice period which might save you a few quid.0

Hi - I'm in exactly the same boat. 10 months into a 24 month contract with EE but have just accepted a job in Beijing. Excitement turned to dread when I realised I had a £695 cancellation fee to pay come September when I leave.
Did you find any solution? I know in terms of my contract they're correct...just wondered if you'd had any luck!0 -
The OP hasn't logged back in since posting, so not expecting a reply any time soon.0
