O/S Daily Wednesday 10 May 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, sky is clear with sun trying to break through, hoping for a better day, as the last 2 have been dull, dark, dreich and very cold. Forecast does say it's supposed to be getting warmer, we'll see. I have washing to put out, so will do that shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was LO pork, cooked in a pot of gravy, mash, veg and LO yorkshires, very nice it was too, ideal for a quick meal once hairdresser had left. Tonight we'll be having smoked sausage and mushroom pasta in a creme fraiche sauce, menfolk will have a breaded chicken portion with theirs.

Work was no better yesterday - still no systems, but just before we left, some bits had finally been restored, but not the systems we use - so we're hoping that this morning we'll have those systems back. I'm working extra hours at the moment on a Weds afternoon, and if we have no systems then I'll have to come home, not a major issue but these hours are not permanent so whilst my employer is offering them I want to do as many as I can before they stop.

Keep safe and well x

Morning all and thank you for the thread nmlc.

Just about to get showered and head off. It looks as though it may be a lovely day so OH can hang the washing out.

I haven't slept much, couldn't get to sleep which is unusual for me, as I'm more likely to go to sleep then wake up a lot. Feel ok but am likely to be shattered by the end of the day.

I must get a move on, hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

Slept really well last night, just one pit stop but got back to sleep straight away. No swimming this morning as the pool doesn't open until 10 on a Wednesday.

Caught up on a bit of TV last night but that was about it, I did put a wash out about half 5 and it was dry by 8pm so none to do this morning.

Chimney sweep coming this evening, must remember to get some money out on my way to work.

Have a good day, hope you're feeling better again Gers.

    Take care. XX

I didn't go to bed until 12, got up again at 1:50 until 4:50 went back to bed and slept until 6, Captain Hot Stuff on the other hand hasn't slept a wink ALL NIGHT, funny that because he has snored a lot and didn't notice me getting up.
Off to work in a sec, yet again with no paper, makes my job impossible, I'm covered in stress hives, I may come home sick as soon as the first person complains!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

Rather cloudy here today, seems set for the day.

Thanks Camelot - I slept really well, up at 3.30am but soon back to sleep without much coughing. Sinuses are still congested but I'm getting better.

Today I've got my teaching session followed by another invigilation. Only one more this week on Friday.

Last night I had half of the YS fillet steak I bought the other day, it was so tender and extremely tasty. I made a mustard and creme fraiche sauce for it. There's the other half for today.

I hope everyone is well and has a happy Wednesday.

Nice day here but colder this morning, it seems to be nice during the day here but much colder in the morning and evenings.

Work for me today and no mums tonight as she still has her sister there so I shall go and rummage in the freezer after this.

I am re reading the earths child series by Jean Auel,I have downloaded them on my kindle, I read them years ago and loved them and its the same now, if anyone hasn't read them I would thoroughly recommend them as a good read.

Right I had better get on have good days all xxx

Thank you nmlc for starting off the thread. I hope that you have a better day at work than you have had recently.

It is a lovely sunny bright start to the day here so I have stripped my bed and got the bedding in the wm, that can go out when it is finished it should dry lovely.

Not doing much today, I hope to enjoy the sunshine and go for a long walk in the park this afternoon. Providing I take it at a reasonable pace I will be ok and walking somewhere nice in the sunshine always cheers me up and makes everything seem better.

Dinner tonight will be some goulash that I got out of the freezer last night, with some steamed veg.

My thoughts are with those that are poorly/have poorly friends and reletives and worries.

I hope that you all have as good a day as you can today.

    Morning

Sounds like you both need a day off HH and nmlc...its going to be a nice day for most I think so why not take a cheeky day and relax in the garden ...life is too short to worry about systems and paper :)

Thanks to everyone who posted about Dads feeding tube trust me I am on it as much as I can but to be fair to them they struggle greatly getting it in and then Dad promptly pulls it out even though he has these big soft boxer type gloves on. It must be so irritating for him. They are talking about a possible stomach tube instead now so hopefully the days without food will be behind us.

Heading over to mums early this morning to meet with the new gardener ...really hope he turns up and is OK :o found him on the local town facebook group so you never know but fingers crossed. Apparently he does lots of work with Age UK so thinking he should be reliable.

Book club tonight for me which is a highlight of the month for me. I have been hosting the meetings so far but tonight I have a treat and one of the others is hosting. We have a great group now and even go out for dinner outside of the meetings which is lovely. Now the sun is out officially I am reading a lot more and actually managing to finish the monthly book  Looking forward to a new suggestion tonight :)

Anyway have a lovely day all and hope you manage to stick your head in the sun at some point remember its really good for you ..vit D and all that :)
  • Morning, (((((((((( hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Another one who did not sleep well, woke just after 3am, it was after 5am before I dropped off, OH has just brought my breakfast, but I need to get up, am on a sewing mission today.

It looks a sunny morning, so guess OH is going to be in the garden.

Hester, take care, you are under a lot of stress just now, I know it's hard but try and relax a bit.

Today is my youngest daughters 49th birthday, I feel old!!!

Redruby, I have read the first few and enjoyed them but she seemed to lose the plot (literally) with the last two. I couldn't finish the last one and I don't think I was alone considering some of the comments I have read.

Hester and NMLC - what nightmares, it's horrible when already stressful jobs are made worse by outside influences, a big part of why I was so relieved to give up work.

I need to get going because I have the piano removers coming this morning and I want to give it a polish before it goes.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I am full of the joys of Spring this morning :D. I went to Slimming World last night and lost 8.5lbs :D:D. I was over the moon as you can imagine. Just got to keep going now.

I have DD17 and DD14 home today. DD17 is supposed to be revising but is keeping me company downstairs at the moment. DD14 is not doing so well, her nurse is coming to see her this evening so I hope that will help her a bit. We have a meeting with the school tomorrow which I am absolutely dreading.

My friend is coming over in a little while for a coffee and catch up. She is going through hard times with her daughters so I can offer a shoulder to cry on. She is always there for me when I need to let off steam about something, I love her loads. I just feel so sad for her as she is normally such a bubbly, happy person but her problems are grinding her down. Anyway, hopefully I can make her feel a bit better before she goes back home.

DD17 has requested chilli and potato wedges for dinner tonight. I can certainly make them SW friendly so that is what we are having. I made a pasta dish yesterday using quark but it split and looked disgusting. Fortunately everyone ate it anyway but I don't think I'll bother with the quark again.

Right I am off to tidy up the living room before my friend comes. I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
