Old Credit card agreements

Hello, am new here, so please bare with me if i not in the right area to post this question.

A friend told me recently that she saw on this website a template that you could use to write to your credit card company and ask them for a copy of the original agreement.
If they cannot provide this, then apparently you can tell the credit card company that you do not recognise having a debt with them and get the whole debt cancelled.

Is this correct? Where can i find this information?

I currently have a credit card debt defaulted to a 3rd party. I've not heard from them in over 12 months since the direct debit was agreed and i currently still pay the money to my bank.

Hope you can help

Many thanks
