Exactly my thought as well.0 -
To be quite honest, the driving in front of you was utterly terrible, but if I see someone doing some bizarre terrible driving, I tend to lean off a bit. It's a weird one as I can see why you feel as though it's not your fault. They've almost t-boned you, but at the same time, they can argue you were 'driving too close' or something like that?
Yes.
Whenever I see somebody in front veering across to the right with no obvious place there to go I slow down because I know they're going to cut back left across me.0 -
Op, I believe that the other party's solicitor's could well be on a fishing trip.
IF they try Court action, just submit your defence as truthfully as you can.
Meanwhile go and phone your insurers and ask to be put through to the Third Party team and speak to them.
Now go and buy a dashcam. That way if such a situation occurs again, you will have the evidence to clear yourself.Never Knowingly Understood.

I was stopping at the time to let my partner out the car, so I know I wasnt going the 20 mph that the road was.
Unfortunately - I do have a dashcam but it broke a few days prior and I was waiting for a replacement from Amazon.
Contacted the insurance and they said they've not heard anything from his insurance party at all regarding the claim. They're chasing it with him now.
Yes maybe I should have seen him, but he was in the opposite side of the road long enough for me to get the the position of impact - Problem with blind spots - I was stopping at the time. I didnt do it so that I could get past impatiently.Whenever I see somebody in front veering across to the right with no obvious place there to go I slow down because I know they're going to cut back left across me.
The road had a turning on the right which it looked as if he was turning into with no indication, instead he veered in front of me to go into a parking spot on the left.Bubblews: &LauraCow0 -
Some drivers have no idea how to use their indicators, which can lead to accidents like the ops.
The op considered that the driver was attempting to turn right when they were actually making a left turn.Never Knowingly Understood.

Yes, but wherever people do indicate, or indeed don't, it's still no excuse.
In this case it looks like the OP was effectively undertaking and so bears much of the blame, though I'd expect the insurers to go 50:50.0
