Economy 10 Tariff Change Vs Economy 7??

I have a External Air Pump, Eco Heating System that is designed to run on Economy 10 Electricity for my 3 bedroomed bungalow. We have no gas supply.
My supplier for the last 3 years is EDF, on their Standard(Variable) Eco 10 Tariff.
In SW Scotland where I live, to my knowlege Eco 10 Tariff is only available from EDF or SSE.
My Annual Electricity Consumption is Day- 2,644kWh Off Peak- 3,528 kWh Total= 6,172 kWh.
Last Bill charges were Day- 16.13p kWh, Off Peak- 7.55p kWh, Standing Charge- 18.00p day.
EDF's projected Electricity costs for the next 12 months is £926.00p
Eco 10 off-peak hours are 04.30>07.30, 13.00>16.00, 20.30>01.30.
Our Central Heating usually is on from 06.30>07.45, 13.00>16.00, 20.30>22.15 between October to May-- It is not used between 22.15 and 06.30 hrs.
My question is- (I can't work this out myself!) is would it work out cheaper to switch to a lower Economy 7 rate, bearing in mind we hardly use our eco external air pump Heating system during the hours Economy 7 is active? Haven't a clue myself- and I don't know of any other Economy 10 Supplier for our area (DG1 Postcode).
Anyone any advice???

What is the unit cost of an E7 tariff ? You seem to make the best use of the current E10 by having your heating on during the off peak periods and if you continue with those timings then much of your use will be at peak rate. There may be more suppliers available than you think and some it seems will take you on an E7 tariff using your E10 metering https://economy10.com/2016/12/12/economy-10-prices-dec-2016/ is worth a read. Also look to see if there are any cheap single rate deals and how much that would cost as in September you will be able to choose that with no change of metering.0

Lets make it simple for you.
Do you want just 7 hours per day of cheap electricity, or would you rather stay with 10 hours per day of cheap electreicity?
Do not attempt to switch supplier with your current metering.
If you do think changing the metering is a good idea ( fee for which will almost certainly apply), speak to both your supplier (their specialist legacy tariff division, not the front lone phone jockey) and do obtain your own specialist help (for which you should expect to pay handsomely)
You may, for example, require some re-wiring and/or new appliances if you do away with your current legacy tariff.
(Ideally you should have done this when you got the heat pump, etc installed. Or, in the event you bought the property after this was installed, you should have got an expert electricty surveyor's report before going ahead with the purchase)
Good luck!0 -
16.13p kWh, Off Peak- 7.55p kWh, Standing Charge- 18.00p day.
Don't require any alterations to appliances or wiring- just the meter change which is triggered by a pulse via the electricty mains cable, just like Economy 7.0
