MSE Credit Club Registration Issues

Hi Folks !
I've got an ongoing issue with my MSE Credit Club registration failing Experian's verification process, and despite having checked all of my details on my Experian account, and they're all correct, I'm still having trouble.
I contacted Experian, and they say :
"Experian do process authentication checks on behalf of MSE Credit Club in relation to customers joining this service that MSE offer. It is MSE who have set the criteria levels which customers must reach to be given access to the service. The level of authentication is not the same as used for Experian’s own services. Experian will only confirm if the customer has reached the required levels based on the criteria set by MSE Credit Club.
This does not mean that we hold incorrect information or that there is anything wrong with your information. It purely means that the information we do hold does not meet the criteria that MSE have set."
Whereas MSE says :
"In some cases, there could be other issues that mean you can’t get through Experian’s rigorous identity checking process. Experian does not disclose full details of the process used to verify your identity in order to guard against fraud."
I've asked Experian what information they hold on me that I'm not able to see on my Experian account and they say :
"I understand you may be frustrated with this outcome but the authentication checks in place are for the security of your data. I cannot disclose the reasons your application was declined and at this time we are not able to continue with the application for the MSE Credit Club."
So it looks like either Experian or MSE are being misleading or dishonest about who sets the criteria by which you can join MSE Credit Club.
My money is on it NOT being MSE
And even if you have a "Full Monty" Experian CreditExpert account they still hold additional data about you that they won't disclose to you - even if you ask them specifically for it
I feel an approach to the Financial Ombudsman coming on

I'm not convinced the report/ score is accurate anyway. I signed up at the weekend to be told my score is excellent. However clear score tell me I'm average and noddle poor. I have defaults and a late payment on a cc so I believe clear score to be more accurate.0

The reports are accurate (or should be) but none of the scores are, obviously.0

Hi there
Thanks for your post. Although Credit Club is an MSE tool, there are parts of the club and some processes which are handled by Experian.
The way that Credit Club verifies your identify does work in a different way from other Experian services, using a more automated online process - unlike Experian's Credit Expert service. As such we don't currently have an manual steps which would allow you to pass this verification stage if you don't initially pass.
However rather than MSE having set the criteria, I think it is probably more accurate to say that we're working with Experian and taking its guidance around this functionality. There are a couple of areas which we're continuing to review around how this works - I can totally appreciate that some of the steps may be a little frustrating.
On both sides, we're very aware of the amount of personal data that having access to Credit Club provides, so we're keen to avoid any risk of an individual or fraudster having access to data that doesn't belong to them.
I hope this information is helpful.0 -

Hi Fireflyaway
If you've got defaults/late payments, we'd expect these to show on your Credit Club dashboard and in your full Experian Credit Report within the club. If you're not seeing these, that it may indicate that there is some missing information from your report. You can query the different sections of your report with Experian if you think there's an inaccuracy. Just look for the 'need some help' buttons within the report tab.
I hope this helps.0 -

Thanks for that - Like I said, I thought it was more likely that Experian were being misleading rather than MSEGus.0 -
Well here's a thing !
I replied to the earlier quoted email from Experian restating my complaint and making it clear that I wasn't at all happy, and received another email basically fobbing me off again.
I replied back suggesting that I might well be taking things further and going to the Ombudsman
This evening I've tried, on the off-chance but with no real hope of success - and Guess What ?
I'm in !
I've changed none of the details in my original application, but somehow I'm now acceptable, whereas last month I wasn't.Gus.0 -

I had a similar problem with not all my accounts showing, which they said was down to a known issue with the system being too strict on matching supplied details to details on file.
I got an email a couple weeks back, saying they'd introduced a fix, and all my accounts should show at the next refresh, which isn't until next month.
I'm guessing the same fix has also fixed your problem.0
