AMEX Eligibility Checker

in Credit cards
I'm getting a 9/10 chance for all AMEX cards on MSE and MoneySuperMarket, yet 0/10 chance on AMEX's own checker.
Would you assume AMEX's is more accurate?
Never had problems getting a card with them before, had a Gold card which I closed 5 months ago, and had a BA card for the last few months with £3k limit.

It would be reasonable to assume that AMEX own eligibility checker was the more accurate.
Could the 0/10 be connected to the recent closure of your last account with them?0 -
I don't believe in eligibility checks, I've had sitiuation were I only had 2/10 chance of getting a credit card but I was accepted with a good rate and credit limit.
However just yesterday I got a 9/10 possibility on AMEX's own website and moneysavingexpert website, just to get an instant decline. There is always a chance it could either way so there is only one way to find out... APPLYGood luck!

Ironically, if I put my first and middle name into the 'first name' field when doing AMEX's eligibility check, I get 9.5/10 chance for every card. If I just put my first name, I get 'Unfortunately we're unlikely to accept you for any card'.
I'm guessing it's something to do with internal scoring.0 -
What card are you applying for?0

I think when reapplying they use an internal check rather than a new credit check. Best thing to do is apply for gold with referral..22k bonus then upgrade to amex plat with the 20k bonus link. Some people have managed to not need to pay the 450 fee as still technically in the first year fee free. Pm if you want a referral or assistance0

I believe the upgrade link was cancelled a while ago.0

The AMEX checker looks for info from experian.
There is a massive flaw i believe in that checker... as did it with my details and an email (that is linked to experian) and i got 6.5/10 ?
I did it again all same details but a diff email and i got 9/10
go figure? that checker is utter BS.• HSBC (Main A/C)
• Halifax Back up A/C
• Lloyds (Spending) A/C
• RBS Back up A/C
• Barclays Old A/C
• Nationwide Old A/C0 -
I think the checker on their own website is fine, I got 9.5 out of 10 chance, applied and accepted no problem, in fact applied this wed and my card arrived today Saturday, you even get to select your own pin as part of the application so dont need to wait for a pin either.0
