Vanishing builders post payment

Hi
Paid a builder to start work, they were part paid by bank transfer, however since then they've not turned up for the past few days, nor are they answering the phone.
I can't cancel the payment with the bank, so it looks like legal action is required, can anyone advise what steps or bodies i need to speak to in regards to recouping my money.
Thank you in advance

What have they done so far? What was it agreed that you were paying them for? How much?
What do you mean part paid by BACs? What else did you give them?

Nothing started so far, bank transfer was a deposit only.

What amount is it?

Write to the builder and give them seven days to pay up. Have a google for a 'letter before action' template to help.
There might be something on trading standards or CAB websites.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Do you have a contact address for them?
Without this, you won't be able to pursue any legal action.0 -
Check your house insurance policy, as you may have legal help included with this.0
