written off loan

Can anyone advise me how to find out if an ongoing, long term loan has been written off?I've just called the debt collection company to find out an early settlement figure and they say they don't have a record of my account on their system? Not sure where my payments are going to then.

First off, I would check all three credit reports to see if there is a record of this loan, either with the original lender, or subsequent debt collection agency/agencies.
Call credit via Noddle - Free
Equifax via Clearscore - Free
Experian via MSE credit club - Free
Then look at your bank statements to see the name of the direct debit originator is, or if its a standing order - who the beneficiary is. See if the name matches up with any info appearing on the credit reports.
Then contact this party and ask where your money is going to. There has to be a record somewhere.Mortgage = [STRIKE]£113,495 (May 2009)[/STRIKE] £67462.74 Jun 20190
