Advice on PurePlanet - new gas / electricity supplier

Hi,
Anybody come across PurePlanet? (I’d post a URL but as a new user I’m not allowed - somewhat archaic - Google “pure planet energy supplier"). Anyway, they’re a new energy provider where by you pay a monthly membership fee and are charged wholesale energy prices.
Anybody using them? Does paying a monthly membership fee and being charged wholesale energy prices work out cheaper?
Thanks,
-Mark

Used to be called Tulip Energy.

Remember, green energy isn't cheap, and the wholesale price of gas and electricity now accounts for less than 45p in every £ that people spend on energy. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hello, amd welcome to MSE :hello:
Is anyone currently using the company? Er, no. They only launched yesterday

... and it takes at least 17 days to switch supplier.
£120 a year standing charge?
So that knocks out all low-medium users at a stroke.
According to the Currant BunFor a typical three-bedroom home, Pure Planet claims to charge, on average, 20 per cent less than the “Big 6” – which is made up of British Gas, SSE, Npower, Scottish Power, E.ON and EDF Energy.
On an average energy bill of around £1,150 a year, that represents a cut of £230.
i.e. £920
But according to MSE Martin & his team, an average user can get a 1 year fix for £878

As always, consult a comparison site to find the best deal for you.
Those who complain about no one at their current supplier ever answers the phone, replies to emails, etc may also be interested in the factPure Planet is a digital-only brand, built for the mobile and app world, and uses an Artificial Intelligence bot to help provide customer service.
"You'd like to know about our boiler services. Is that correct?"
"No, I'd like to speak to someone at customer services please"
"You'd like to know how many customers we currently serve. Is that correct?"
"No, I'd like to speak to someone at customer services please"
"I'm sorry, I did not understand your query. Please do not hestitate to contact us again. Goodbye"
