Better Deal Arrived After Sign-Up!

Yesterday my wife signed up at a main dealer for a brand new car. Delivery will be in 2/3 weeks.

After getting home an email arrived from another dealer who was late in quoting offering her £1,000 more in part exchange for her old car than we got on the deal she signed up for.

Can we legally cancel the original deal and go for the new one?

It depends on the terms of the deal she signed. If she signed at the dealer's premises then there is no automatic right to cancel so she's bound by the terms.

You can still cancel, however you may not get all of your deposit back.

That may be the case but is the bottom line of the deal £1000 better than the one she has signed up for? You may find that the dealer you've gone with has a higher price to start off with...

There is also the factor that the dealer we signed with has given her a £780 discount. The higher p/ex might not have a discount as well. I really don't want to know! Fox & grapes syndrome!
