Is there an easy way to get decorator's caulk off wood?

Right I made a massive mistake smearing decorator's caulk all over my new bare wood banisters as I thought it was sand-able (long story, don't ask). Have tried scraping it off but it's tricky not to gouge the wood, and it's slow slow work).
Is there a nuclear option, some sort of glue-removal stuff, that I can dissolve it with? Don't mind f it discolours the wood as it has yet to be primed and I can get some of that zinsser stuff.

Caulk is water based acrylic. So water, or a wet cloth will get it off. An easy job, you just need to judge how much wet and finesse it needs. Too much water will soak in the timber and can raise the grain, so be careful.

Thanks Furts, I have now tried with a damp coarse scourer and some fairy liquid and it's coming off pretty well, phew!
