Programming Language

Hello,
I have been learning Python for 3 months but sometimes I ask myself "Which language should I learn?"

Maybe C,C++ or C#;Java,Ruby.

However, nowadays I start wondering C# because it's used for Android, Windows Phones and Desktop applications. I haven't decided yet. Could you give some advice?
Thanks

Iv never heard of Android apps being programmed using c sharp, its normally CPP as most of the .net libraries will be useless ..
However, Java is much easier to learn and the android sdk allows you to use java to program your apps ..

If the end goal is Apps, then you want :-

    Java SE
    Android SDK
    Eclipse

    Which language should I learn?

Depends entirely on what sort of software you want to write. Are you looking towards a programming career, or is this just hobby stuff ?

I was going to say that once you're fluent in one language, picking up more is easier. But if your first language encourages bad habits (such as BASIC in the old days) it can be messy to shake them off. Not sure whether python encourages good habits or not.

The way to decide is to start at your destination and work back to where you are.

So look at jobs advertised online, choose your current industry if you wish, but to begin with I would just look generally.

You want to look at contracts rather than permanent roles, look which ones are paying most, look at what they are asking for and teach yourself that, then seek some sort of accreditation.

To be honest I do not think that there is huge money in coding a languages but rather in innovation and in particular project types. Things like Mobile, Messaging interfaces, Agile software development, web coding, SQL DB Management.

Do you mean a native English speaker or another person who has learnt English?

You might find this site of help

    https://www.italki.com

You can find people from around the world who are learning another language, so if you were say Russian and Learning English, you would look for someone English and Learning Russian.

A good tip for you when learning a foreign language is to get VLC player, then download a movie from the country you are learning the language of, then use the Download subtitles option in View menu to download subtitles in your native language, watch the movie. Then download subtitles in your the language, you are learning and watch again, after you have had a nights sleep. Then next day download the same movie with audio track in your native language and use the subtitles of the language you are learning. Seeing those subtitles, hearing how they are pronounced will improve your language skills as your subconscious takes it all in.

It needs to be a popular film for you to find all the files.

It is also good for you to socialise with native language speakers

Ah but the Fortran I learnt at university (ICL1900) and used extensively at engineering work is very different from modern Fortran.
In fact its almost a different language
