Dental Work - covered by Insurance?

A few years ago, I had an accident resulting in one of my front teeth requiring root canal treatment and it is now dead but looked okay. As I had insurance with my dentist the work was covered.
I moved house, so went with another dentist and took out the insurance with them, through a different provider. In the past few months, this tooth has started to go grey at the top and, being one of my 2 front main teeth, does not look good. As the original problem was caused by an accident and this greyness is a direct result of that, will I be able to claim for repairs with my new insurance company?

Depends if previous unsolved problems are covered. It could be said that the problem existed before you took out the cover.

What does your dentist say? Will he say its an old problem or whether its a recent issue?

Thanks for the comments. The dentist was quite dismissive last time, however it has got worse, so I am going to push a bit further this time. I'm due to go at the end of May.
