new home and switching

We are just about to move into a new home. Can we switch from the previous owners supplier or do we have to wait until were in and have our name on the utility bills first.

You will be on a 'Deemed' contract with the new homes current supplier as soon as the dwelling is legaly yours.
Report your occupation and the meter readings to them a.s.a.p, once you have their acknowledgement you are the new occupier, you are free to Switch supplier0 -

Good advice above, but remember that you are liable for standing charges from the date that you legally took over responsibility for the property.
