Kitchen badly designed, what are my rights?

interesting - if they've specified both the worktop and the appliances then I can't see how they can avoid liability for that.
A 12.5mm worktop is pretty specialist so you'd expect that it would limit the appliances able to be used with it.
What is the actual issue with the hob? most of them have the depth for the fixing brackets or is the reduced worktop depth mean it's fouling on something underneath it a drawer/over or something? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hob will no doubt drop further into the oven base unit more than it would on a 38mm worktop - thus not leaving room to slide the oven into place.
This may also be a problem with composite sinks too.

The worktop will be a WilsonArt product called Zenith which has a dense waterproof solid core. B&Q and Wickes both sell it for sure and probably others too.
There can be issues with compatibility with certain hobs and ovens. This can be overcome on Wickes/Benchmarx units with a bit of adaption and imagination.
Like with any new product, especially when neither fitter or designer are familiar with it, problems will occur.
It is a good product but it requires a bit of planning and imagination from both designer and fitter.0
