Dell or Lenovo - or neither??

I've been looking around for a new laptop.

Have come across a Lenovo and Dell. Would also consider a Toshiba except that it costs too much...

The Lenovo is this:

http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=4NHD&InMerch=1

The Dell is:

http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&kc=N4XENT01&l=en&oc=N1015017XP&rbc=N1015017XP&s=dhs&~ck=expbuy3

Both the same price, but the Lenovo is a Core2Duo while the Dell is Turion 64 plus but also has widescreen and 2 GB RAM.

Which one is better?? Or are they both bad? Any other bad points about these brands??

TIA!

Both good brands, Lenovo used to be the IBM thinkpad range which were brought out by another company, usually get good reviews. It's shard to beat the Dell "bang-for-buck", why not spec another Dell laptop with a Core 2 Duo to compare like for like, and buy the best value.

  • my fiancee has had both dell and lenova in the last year, and both had to be sent away for repair more than once within 6 months..
I've been using HP compaq for a few years now, and in my experience they're much more reliable than either of the above.

Lenovo everytime if the alternative was a dell.

Dell are ok if you want a cheap laptop spec tends to be ok but it is a cheap laptop things will fall off, yesterday I went to a customer and he told me how the opening and closeing the lid of his dell laptop causes the screen connector to slowly come out and he bought somthing a little higher up the dell range.

I only chucked my old IBM thinkpad away before christmas it worked without a problem untill I borrowed the hard drive out of it and it was 8 years old very well worn as I used it daily for 4 years then only occasionally. Chucked in the back of the car not treated well becasue I wanted a new one but the !!!!!! kept working.
