A couple of weeks ago my android tablet started pushing redirected ads at me and it is getting annoying. I have all my os settings set to reject ads and i run adblock browser. Which is not stopping it. I have checked all my apps and there is nothing I can see set up to redirect ads so it must be well hidden Any idea where it might be so i can rootle it out and destroy it. I am running latest plain vanilla os.

don't know what a plain vanilla os is but if it was my tablet i would backup and do a factory reset"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

what i meant is latest version of operating system, unmodified. I would like to know how it gets in and where so i can block the back door for the future.0

It has to be an app you installed.
They usually take the form of "battery boosters" and such.
They behave for a couple of weeks so they are not flagged as the culprit and then they start throwing ads at you like this.
Go to settings- application manager and weed it out in there0 -
If you root your tablet you can use apps like adfree or adaway which block advertising urls in the hosts file. I do that myself but it still doesn't block every advert although it seems to get most for the browser.
I suspect some ads are hard coded into the apps themselves which would explain the amazing number of updates you get for android apps. Of course it may just be that the ads are served from the developers own servers rather than the ad networks and those urls don't get blocked in hosts.0 -

I have removed all but original apps - google etc - and problem persists I have noticed and checked by experimenting that it is following my searches in kind of ads it is pushing so it must be recording somewhere but devil if i can find it. (I do have tablet settings set to block ads and run adblock browser. )0

Searches then question is what are you using to search with .
You will be better to factory reset and install apps one by one and test .
Likewise no idea what vanilla OS is as no clue as to what tablet is .0 -
I am not sure exactly what you have done, but back to the basic.
Let's scan your mobile phone. As Andypix suggested, you might get malware etc. I would recommend Kaspersky internet security free version. You can download this form Googleplay store, or Aptoid etc.
I am using adaway (which is great!), but I don't think it block malware based adverts.0 -
Vanilla just means its stock android.
OP - these apps sometimes use the same name as regular apps.
See if you have 2 "facebooks" installed0 -
Also OP, go into settings - application manager
then find your browser, and clear cache and clear data
that'll shift it0
