Natwest are closing my account after 27 years......

  • I have received a text message saying:
'Following a review of your banking arrangements, we have made the decision that we can no longer offer you banking facilities. Accounts have been blocked & a letter sent to advise this decision & next steps. This decision is in line with the T&Cs of your account & we are unable to discuss the rationale for this.'
I assume that the account was closed due to inactivity, it was not overdrawn.
My problem is that I'm abroad currently, there is nobody at my address.
For those who had their account closed by Natwest what was the procedure to get your money back?
    Thank you!

They did it to me... presumably for opening 10 accounts online across RBS group (Ulster, Natwest, RBS) in relatively quick succession which were all subsequently switched out to Yorkshire Bank for £150 a time. So they were all going to be closed anyway but now I'm banned from banking with RBS group as well!

I agree with NatWest for banning you for opening 10 accounts across the RBS group.
That's just pure greed, nothing else.

Probably better for you to ask NatWest this question.
  • I would complain. I don’t think that they’ve treated you very well, and think it quite possible that you’ll get an apology and the decision reversed.

If you don’t complain it seems like it’ll leave you with a bit of a sour taste.

Someone bumped a two-year-old thread with an unrelated question rather than create their own thread. So, ignore all the early stuff.
