House for sale in joint ownership with the ex at the moment. No buyer in sight at the moment. How do I stand if I want to take on the property myself? Do I need to wait until the contract ends to avoid charges as a "buyer found myself".
Any advice appreciated.

Since you already own 50% of the property, ( or possibly jointly own 100% - Tenants In Common or Joint Tenants?), you are arguably not purchasing the property.
However it would be wise to
a) read the contract with the EA, to check
i) whether this would consitute a sale for the purposes of the contract, and
ii) if so, what the contract terms are eg Sole Agency? Sole Selling Rights? Afyer all, the EA can hardly be said to have introduced you as a buyer, so unless it's a Sole Selling Rights contract I don't see how a fee could be payable.
and/or
b) simply end the contract before doing anything.0
