Hi all
My laptop's D drive has been playing up recently, notably it sometimes failed to register that there was a disc in it. While faffing about with different discs etc I took the wise step of running my finger over the lens. Yeah that's how smart I am...:o . It now doesn't register the presence of any disc I put in so I guess I murdered it.
As a precaution I've been through the troubleshooter with no joy, including uninstalled and reinstalled the device and it is still deado.
When I go to Device Manager and right click I get the "General" menu which tells me that "this device is working properly". Well it ain't!
What would be the best thing for me to do now?
Thanks.
Snowy Owl.

try a cd / dvd cleaner. You've pobably just stuck a big mucky finger printer on it so it can't see anything.0
