Salary Sacrifice Car & Tax

Hi!

I have a salary sacrifice car with NHS fleet solutions since May 2015. This year my tax code changed to minus £6000 from my personal tax allowance related to company car. This hasn't happened on previous years. I'm aware of new HMRC changes which were to come into affect 6th April for all contracts signed after this date but not existing contracts.

This alongside an underpayment from previous years leaves me with a tax allowance of £1200! 🙁

How do I know if I have been incorrectly caught up in the new rules? Has this happened to anyone else with a salary sacrifice? I'm going to give mine back as this has made it not worth it while. The figure of £6000 is related to car emissions, value and my tax bracket from what I understand.

Any help/advice would be amazing! I really want this sorted before my pending mat leave is calculated!

Sounds like a bit hit, but you might have to wait until your employer sends your P11d to you - usually by end of May
