Refusal from Aqua

Bit peeved, just been refused by Aqua! Only applied as it's the only MasterCard I can find with cashback.
Never been refused a card before, applied for another card just before with a much larger limit that was accepted.
Have no balances to transfer, pay all in full by DD each month, and MSE money club score is 999.
Don't want this on my record, and also wondering why - the blurb they gave was standard guff re. credit-scoring and gave me Experian contact details!
Any thoughts? Is it worth writing to Aqua and asking for a detailed explanations? Are they obliged to give it?
Thanks

No.
One search isn't a big deal, so I'd just move on0 -

You can ask why you were rejected but they aren't obliged to tell you.
I agree it could be the fact of the other card with a larger limit and it put you over the threshold.0 -

Personally I would be really insulted considering it aims its card at the prime market. Also just proves how useless the credit score system is.0 -
Much appreciated - guess was just a bit surprised and started wondering if I'd mis-typed information or the like. Can't pretend I fully understand how the credit-scoring system works, so as pointed out it may be my own stupid fault!
Thanks for the re-assurance re. what's kept on record -that was the bit that concerned me!
Doesn't seem to be any other MasterCard out there with cashback at present, so maybe just wait and see if something else comes along / try again.
Thanks again.0
