Insurance History

Hi all
I am currently selling my home & have a question about a historical insurance claim & if I would need to disclose the events to a buyer.

I have a house with detached brick garage at the end of the garden. In the early 1990s I found some very fine step cracks in the mortar bed in one corner of the garage. The insurers sent an engineer out who advised removal of some leylandi conifers, regardless - which I did. A tell tale was placed over the top of the crack & measured every month. After 6 months no movement was evident & the insurer advised to repoint & closed the claim with no payout - it cost £15 for the pointing so within my excess. 24+ years later there is no sign of any new cracking.

My concern is that there is now a footprint that my home was affected by subsidence, even though no under-pining was required & no payout was made.

Anyone know if this incident will be still be recorded & if I need to disclose it?

It will be recorded as a claim. The insurer will at least have paid for the engineer and monitoring. Early 90s might just predate CUE but historical data may have been uploaded, if the insurer subscribed at the time. You could submit an access request to CUE (I can't find the link at the moment).
