DVLA Personalised Plates

Hi, i've noticed that general private plates prices bought from the DVLA website work on a stepped pricing structure, depending on how old the plate is.

eg, Current 10//60 plates are £250, whereas 11/61 plates are Currently £400.

It's a long shot, but does anyone know what time of year the prices of the 11 plates will drop to the £250 price as I've found something I like, but don't want to pay £150 extra for the price to drop a couple of weeks later.

What you notice isn't correct regarding the age....
or not in the way you describe, someone at DVLA has already done the maths on which plates are likely to be more popular, based on lettering, numbers and age, the older plates will be available to more cars .

They even have a wishlist & a keep me informed - these are not sold like supermarket cheeses with a best before but are much more 'artisan' priced.

Have a look through the delay auctions, there might be something there that takes your fancy.

Out of interest I had a look at the DVLA site. I selected a five character prefix plate with my own initials in it and it was in the cheapest band. I then selected the same plate with my wife's initials. Her initials are the same as mine apart from the middle letter. It was four times the price.
