Book the Bistro 1 night and La Luna on the night of the Moon show on deck
Avoid dinning around 8-8.30 if you can the main buffet restraunt gets very very busy at these times.
If the comic is on the bar eat early or you will be standing all night because even for the second show hardly anyone gives up the seats.
I nearly booked the same crusie but all the Gatwick flights had gone and getting back from Southampton to Manchester to collect the car would be a painIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
i have booked a flight from southampton 2 glasgow for about £30 each with jet2, book 6 month in advance 4 these prices:T0

Hi
We went on our first cruise ever last year with Ocean Village (we weren't even sure whether we'd like a cruise but we've booked to go back again next year). It was BRILLIANT, we would recommend them to anyone. The buffet places are 'OK' but to be honest, seen as though they are not really very expensive, we mostly ate in La Luna or the Bistro (about £7 and £12.50 supplements respectively) but the standard or food is so much better and you don't have to queue behind people who loiter about when getting their food!!!
The drink prices are very reasonable. As you are a captive market, I thought they may rip you off where drinks are concerned but they don't exploit it at all. Like the above poster says, seats are hard to come by when the comedian is on so get there early!
I don't know whether you are stopping at any ports on your way back to southampton but if you are then I'd recommend their excursions too- a LITTLE overpriced on what you could get if you book with an independant tour operator but you get the peace of mind that they won't sail off without you should you be late back!

i'm considering doing a 1wk cruise for oct half term, but don'yt want my 5yr old constantly nagging for overpriced soft drinks, are these included in the price?Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.
wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!0 -
Hi,
Soft drinks not included in the price I'm afraid but a post written a little while ago said you could buy the soda card (20 soft drinks) and the ice-cream card for £34 so not really that cheap. OV leaves Crete on the 18th October (kids half term starts 19th October) for a 10 day cruise via the Med and ends in Southampton on the 28th and apparently the ship is full. She is then off to be refurbished before her stint in the Carribean. Sally0 -

Have a look at some of the american ships they have unlimited soda cards for kids and adults, prices for the cruises will be comparable to OV. but not as conveniently packaged wit hflights.0 -
I've been on OV and used the soda card. Found it to be good value on a two week cruise but harder to use all the options up on a one week cruise. Drinks and ice cream prices on OV are not unreasonably priced without the card. Unless they've changed, juices are free at breakfast time, so drinks should hopefully only be an issue later in the day anyway. Also be careful, I don't think all drinks are available on the card. Not sure if it is just postmixes. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Dridok,
Have just been looking at your itinerary. Sounds fab you're so lucky! Have been to a couple of the ports on previous cruises. In Cartagena we did the OV organised trip and found it disappointing. However it is a pretty town, you dock centrally and it is easy to walk around, so would recommend doing your own thing there. Look for the very early submarine.
Did the OV tour in Gib, that was fantastic, but be careful of feeding the 5 year old near the monkeys, they can be very vicious and snatch food off even full grown adults. Great for shopping too, especially if you're a smoker. I'm not but I bought my allowance home. Cost about £8-9 for 200.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
