Does the line rental increase affect those who paid upfront?

If they aren't allowing you to get a refund of the line rental, then it would seem a little unfair to increase it.
No . If you've paid upfront there is no increase in line rental.

If you call mobile numbers from your landline, be aware these are inclusive in call plans with Plusnet, but charged with BT (21p per call plus 8p per minute on Anytime call plans, 21p per call plus 16p per minute on other BT call plans).

BT is now the only major landline provider to not offer inclusive calls to mobile numbers.

I've been with Plusnet less than 2 months, and I have already told them I'm leaving. I just need to find the right provider now.

I decided very rapidly that I didn't like Plusnet, and this price rise was a golden opportunity to leave early.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I personally haven't used a landline from home for several years, I don't even have a telephone connected to the master socket, so for me the landline aspect is irrelevant. As a very light mobile phone user on a cheap PAYG tariff at just 3p per minute to both landline and mobiles, and with a main communications mast less than half a mile from my home, then I have no need for a landline.
