Gift Voucher Expiry HELP! (Me Vs Them!)
Comments
-
I’m amazed that vouchers are still going. Viewed rationally they are such a strange thing.
“I really haven’t thought much about what to get you. Cash gifts seem a bit vulgar so I’ll get you pseudo-cash where you know exactly what it’s worth but that it comes with restrictions.”
Not entirely! My in-laws always buy me vouchers for my favourite fabric shops for Christmas/birthdays because they know that my hobby is dressmaking but I often find it hard to justify spending money on nice fabric and patterns. They obviously have no idea what to buy because they don't know what type of fabric I need, or how much, etc. If they gave me cash, I'd feel like I ought to be "sensible" and put the money towards bills or something I really need. With a voucher, I have to buy nice things that are just for me to enjoy, which is much more in the spirit of a gift. It's a good way of bypassing my spending guilt and ensuring I get something I'll use and enjoy. Obviously I know this is a personal thing but it works really well for me.

Please create your own thread.I have a similar situation with a gift voucher that my wife purchased for me.
No expiry on voucher nor any explanation of expiry dates when purchased.
It’s a small establishment that issued the voucher, and the receptionist we spoke to was less than useful. I would really like to be able to know what rights, if any, we have in this situation.
A lot of people go straight to the first post and, myself at least, initially missed the fact that it was from 2017... So I had a rather helpful post lined up for the original poster after a bit of research only to find out that it was YOUR RESPONSE which needs assistance.
That aside, what company is it?0 -

Oops. Yep, me too!0 -
Of course I was going to start a new thread but as with many forums there is usually an argument about using the search function first, which I did and found this thread. I apologise that you didn’t see the original post date and for resurrecting an old thread.
The company is a single shop/sole trader, not a national company.0
