What a junk website T/A has become. Where once it was usable, nowadays it throws up more screens than a multiplex, so ad blocking and pop-up blocking is essential. NoScript (Firefox) seems locked in permanent struggle with it.
I am not a T/A member, but did recall that a year or two back it offered a facility for obtaining price alerts on USA domestic airline routes which the luvvly Skyscanner doesn't. We holiday quite a bit in the States and use regional carriers and small municipal airports just like the locals, so T/A's offer of a price alert "direct to your inbox" was welcome. (T/A is an aggregator of sites like Expedia, amongst others.)
What T/A didn't say was that also, direct to your inbox, will come T/A spam, this being 100% gibberish. Today's is "10 Surreal Destinations For You". It presumably thinks my surname is Dali.
What's actually significant about this junk mail though is that no facility exists for stopping it. The bottom of the email simply says, you can't reply to it. A 'help' link is provided ('for your queries') but clicking on that merely takes you to a T/A web page with search box, into which you can type UNSUBSCRIBE so as to be told:
'Please click on UNSUBSCRIBE at the bottom of the email if you no longer wish to receive this service'.
T/A Help further suggests that you "log in to manage your subscriptions". But as I'm not a T/A member I can't. . . log in. All I signed up to was an airline pricing alert, using my email address only because my email address was all that T/A asked for. Trying to use just that alone results in: 'Register now to enjoy all the benefits!'
It's an easy job for me to run a server-side block on all T/A emails from now on -- including the airline price alerts, none of which I've ever actually received -- but infuriating even so that this American company is churning out masses of spam with no unsubscribe facility. . . unless you sign up as a member so as to "manage your subscriptions".
Grrrrrr.

Pretty much the same story with all of these discount and comparison sites."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
