BBC News website changes

Have the BBC made changes to their news website again?

Since a couple of days ago market data and local weather etc are not being displayed on the home page as before and everything seems bigger than it was. The UK page displays local weather but not market data and there's a lot of white space down the right hand side.

I've googled but can't find anything or any complaints about any changes so I'm wondering if it's some setting or I've unknowingly opted in to a beta site or something.

It's changed for me too (on PCs at work and home), and I find it irritating that market data is not on the home page (have to go to the Business section).

Me too. It's an unwieldy conglomeration with too many too big pictures - not easy to pick up information quickly, which I think should be the key feature of the page.

They seem to be placing more and more emphasis on videos rather than providing properly written stories. If I want to watch a talking head rambling on I'll watch the news, on a website I want to see words.

Thanks, thought it was just me.

On my older system, the home page lags quite badly with all the large graphics, etc so I'm using the UK page as my home page and keeping a second tab open for the business news. The previous home page had everything I wanted on one page and scrolled smoothly.

They've also got rid of the travel reports. We used to use it to plan journeys as the live maps made it easier to see where there were hold ups.

its the equivalent of "picture book" news for people who won't read more than a sentence or two..... just more dumbing down.

Modern journalists think what someone says on twitter is "news" and that everything has to have a video or picture and can't actually write meaningful content.

    great shame.
