It's part of a terrace of five properties - one of which is a bit larger. There's a similar terrace of five, all the same as this style, next to it.

Of all ten, this is the only one that's got repeated sales showing. Only one of the others has been sold in the last decade, with another four in the decade-and-a-bit before since sales started to be routinely recorded.

There's another terrace of different character properties next along, only one of which has a sale showing.

There's parking on the road outside, with no reason for through traffic, and next door have turned their front garden into a parking space.

Thanks for all your replies it's been extremely helpful. I know the current owners are selling because they have a baby, cat and dog. There isn't enough space for them, given as we have established now this really is a 1 bedroom property with an office "occasional spare room", and also no proper garden, which isn't ideal for a family.

The above issues don't bother me and my parter as we don't have children or pets, nor do we have plans to have them for at least another 5 years.

Speculating only, I would suspect people move out as their family grows and obviously they can hardly walk through to the toilet while their child or whoever is in bed. It's awkward and not ideal. I think this is our main issue, really we would only be able to sell the property on to couples or single people. Thank you for all your advice I think we plan to offer them the £170,000 they stated they would accept.

You're telling us the house is a bag full of comprises with a limited resale market. It would be very non MSE to suggest perhaps this isn't the right house for making money, or reselling. If in 5 years you want a family, and the housing market is struggling, is your house going to sell - at a decent price? I'd be thinking this...

You may not have heard, but the market peaked in 2008, and had a bit of a problem for a while afterwards.

Given that somebody bought it at the very peak, quite probably with a 100% mortgage, it may well have been sold after repossession - or in other time-critical circumstances.

The would be seller here obviously doesn`t agree.

We have pulled out from the house. Having spoke to the church directly next door we have discovered the bells ring every 15mins 24 hours a day, as well as for 45mins at 8am every Sunday morning and for 2 hours bell practice every Thursday evening. Lovely for some people, noise pollution for us.

Seriously? You knew the church was right next door, and the bells have come as a surprise to you...?

The 24hr/day will just be an hour-count chime, plus a small quarter-/half-hour chime.

You would be used to it in zero seconds flat, and thinking "Oooh, are the bells chiming, I've not heard them all day". I have a grandfather clock less than 2m from me, in the room I work in all day, every day - and am sometimes caught by surprise by the hourly chime, because I've simply not noticed it all day...

Yes it came as a surprise I never knew they went all through the night. I've never lived next to a church before or given it any consideration. Isn't it better to find out now rather than whilst living there?

Maybe we would get used to them but maybe we wouldn't. I'd rather not risk £170,000 to find out.

Most churches don't ring through the night - I have lived by churches several times and never had that problem. In fact the last church I lived by (garden backed onto it) had a clocktower and I never heard it chime the time in the 3 years I lived there.
