Energy Club Saving

Hi All,

I've entered my yearly usage for gas/electricity, where the energy club thinks I can save £83 p/yr switching to Ebico. I'm a low user, and my current bills are only £31 total.
However when checking, Ebico's quote is £32 p/month total.
Am I missing something? It seems it would be cheapest for me to remain with British Gas.

Thanks

Ignore any claimed saving and look at the unit rates. If they are better then you know you will save something at least.

When does your current fix run out? It'll be comparing your next year between how much time is on your current deal vs the balance on BG SVR which is a truly awful tariff.

    Thanks for that. Appreciated.

Tariff (dual fuel): Fixed Price July 2018
    TCR for current BGas: 14.99 Elec / 4.28 Gas. Currently £30.94 p/mth
    TCR for Ebico: 15.70 Elec / 4.91 Gas. Projected £31.41 p/mth
    TCR for Green Network: 14.26 Elec / 3.38 Gas. Projected £32.06 p/mth

It's rather confusing. I'm being told the two below deals save roughly £80 p/year, yet the monthly payments are higher if I switch from BGas.
For the record, yearly usage = 1,477 Elec, 2,949 Gas in kWh

    Thanks

Ignoring Ebico as they're way off.

    If you do the sums: BG = 1,477 x £0.1499 = £221 + 2,949 x £0.428 = £126.21. Total £347.21

    Green network = 1,477 x £.1426 = £210 + 2,949 x £0.338 = £99.67. Total £309

So around £48 cheaper. The monthly DD may be a little higher but then you'll likely build credit to have a couple of "free" months with Green network.

The monthly amounts on DD or projected annual cost are no more than Estimates .

TCR does not give real world figures .
Tariff unit rate plus daily standing charge gives you a better indicator in my view of the actual price .

I see, I'll bear that in mind.
    So:
    BGas
Elec: SC of 24.7p p/day Unit price 11.590p per kWh
Gas: SC of 24.7p p/day Unit price 3.414p per kWh

    Green
Elec: SC of 23.74p p/day Unit price 12.317p per kWh
Gas: SC of 22.52p p/day Unit price 2.930p per kWh

Interesting. I thought I should care about the money that leaves my account each month, but according to the above, Green looks a better bet....despite them taking more money from me.

Also, Just noticed what might be the reason for Ebico being top of the comparison list:
    Ebico
Elec: SC of £0 p/day Unit price 15.7080p per kWh
Gas: SC of £0 p/day Unit price 4.9140p per kWh

I'm guessing the standing charge will make all the difference - although the unit rate is quite poor.

Ebico is ideal for light users and may be more than ideal for the summer months only .

Gas: SC of 22.52p p/day Unit price 2.930p per kWh
Not much in it with electric .
