Credit rating in credit card different to my bank account's ?

I have a credit rating in my Barclaycard of 985.
When I tried to create a new contract with Vodafone, and provided my bank account details (HSBC) I failed the credit check!
What gives?
Any ideas whether the two are separate credit scores?

Credit rating is imaginary, your file is what counts. If you want some numbers to represent it, here is 888 -perfectly fine number and about as meaningful.0

And asthetically pleasing.0

So where do I find "the file" ?0

Where did you get the credit rating from, is it via 1 of the credit reference agencies ?
Whatever your credit score/rating is just skip it and check the history is correct.
No 1 has to provide you with a phone contract, maybe there's an issue on your credit file VF didn't like. Was it a sim plus phone style contract ? Maybe applying for a sim only contract would be easier to get or try a different network altogether.0 -
The rating I get is a 60-day renewed from Experian and it's been steady for 5-6 times now.
I tried to get a sim-only deal (12-month).
What history is it that you mean I can check?0 -

So from Experian.
You can register with all 3 and look at your reports from all 3 agencies.
The history is your credit history, any bank accounts, loan accounts, phone contracts you have.
Call credit register at Noddle
Equifax register at clearscore
Experian can register at mse club.
Is Vodafone the best network for your area ?0 -
Vodafone do seem very picky who they accept..i assumed my file was pretty dire (assumed it was sub prime) then Barclay card grant a £3500 limit..Tesco £1500 limit and Aqua double the limit..this was all with a week or so and today just been accepted for M&S Bank account (always been offered only the basic accounts previously).
Yet i couldn't get a sim only deal with Vodafone month or so back.0 -
My CC limit is 25k...
I just ran a credit score with Noddle and gave me 642/710 and a rating of 5/5.
I don't get it...I guess I'll have to accept that Vodafone is just picky...0 -
Get a pay as you go? That's what I did with Tesco and its so cheap. Mind I only use it for texts and calls, no internet.0

Yeah, I went from giffgaff to Vodafone for the quick internet, and currently in a PAYG. But it's better deal to go for the 12-month0
