Leaking Miele washing machine from fluff filter

Hi all,
I now have another water issue this time with my Miele washing machine!
Last week the washing machine finished the cycle but full of water.. I looked at the trouble shooting on Miele website, drained the machine and cleaned out the fluff filter (which hasn't been done in 20 years!) hoping this would resolve the issue
However on the next cycle water poured out the pipe (I think its the emergency drain pipe nnot sure what to call it) next to the fluff filter bottom left of the machine. I have tightened the filter as much as I can but no change! The leak is only there when the machine runs. Am I missing something?
I'm really hoping this is an easy fix although the machine has done me well being over 15 years old
Any tips appreciated! Thanks guys

Do a google search to see if you can find a manual. If it's 15 years old, you may have to settle for the manual for a similar model, and look in the troubleshooting section.
Or phone Miele up and ask.0 -
What is the model number of the machine?
It sounds to me like the plug that goes into the end of the rubber hose hasn't been put back in, or not back in tightly enough. I really doubt the plug would pop off itself, so suspect you just forgot about it.
While you're down there, unscrew the filter again and clean the threads where the filter screws into and around the threads of the filter. You might have a little grit which is stopping you tightening up the filter enough.0 -
We used to use pliers to tighten our Miele washing machine filter.
The drain pipe hooks on to something so it sits upright is yours hooked up like that?
Hope you get to fix it as the bearings went in my Miele and my husband could have fixed it by buying new bearings but left it to long and the gap where bearings go had been made bigger.
Now have a £449 Bosch washing machine that I hate.0 -
Hi everyone,
Thank you for your responses!
I contacted Miele who suggested putting a little fairy liquid around the threads but that doesn't seem to have helped
The drain pipe has never has a plug (it would be great if it did!)
Our pipe does hook onto the door I think, and is upright when you close the door but water stills leaks out through the bottom of the machine
I'm not sure I understand how the filter and pipe are connected. Does the filter usually stop the water coming out of the pipe and how does it do this?
I'm going to check the pipes at the back of the machine just in case they may have a blockage but I'm not sure it will help0 -
The water will only come out of that small tube if you open the filter up a little bit. So no water should come out if filter is not loosened.0

Have you checked the rubber in the drum in case it has a hole? Sorry can't remember what they call that rubber bit.
Looked it up rubber door seal.0
