Sounds like a lovely Xmas XSpender

Is the CC debt 'new' debt? or Debt left over from before the remortgage.

Hope you have a lovely time at the panto

    x

It is new debt WannabeFree in all honesty. Christmas and a couple of bits to finish a room in the house for guests and some new plates as I didn't have enough non chipped ones for the catering we did at Christmas. I probably should have let us some mortgage money to cover Christmas instead of paying it off and then running it up again but it's all debt at the end of the day.

The panto was fabulous. We have gone for years to the same one. Last year's was a bit samey but this year they had changed the format and it was brilliant. I have already booked and paid for next year's tickets so I am relieved it was back to the previous standard.

I hope you and the smalls had a lovely Christmas too x

Lovely walk on the beach yesterday. DS and the dog collided at one point and I am sure the poor dog has a black eye under his fur. He's such an old boy now (the dog, not DS), I have really seen him age in the last 6 months and it breaks my heart :(

All my budgets have been set for January and I have joined the NST challenge again.

DH is at work until this afternoon but may get away earlier. Once I get my bum in to gear tasks for today are:

    1) Take down the Christmas trees and put away all the decorations in the loft
    2) Walk the dog
    3) Dust and hoover downstairs
    4) Mop floors downstairs
    5) Sort clean laundry and put away. Iron a few bits for DS
    6) Small top up food shop to include beer for tonight for DH and pack lunch stuff for walk tomorrow
    7) Hide the rest of the chocolates as I have been on the scales this morning
    8) Start our family fun day jar of activities
    9) Create list of frogs in bu-jo

I have received the draft of my CV and have had a quick look and will forward some amendments on Tuesday when I am back to work and in the right headspace for it. Disappointed to see spelling mistakes in it! It feels odd to think I will have a different job this time next year!

    Happy New Year.

We had a great day walk yesterday with a few treats out of our rucksacks on the way. The weather was beautiful.

All the Christmas decorations are down and packed away except for the naked main Christmas tree which is too heavy for me to separate the pieces. The boxes are still in the dining room though as putting them in the loft is a 2 man job and DH is ill with the start of a chest infection.

Back to the grindstone of work today but a gentle day to get me back in the swing with a few emails and presentation creation.

I had forgot to cancel/amend the regular savings SO which came out today and was not budgeted for in YNAB. I think I was expecting DH average salary to be higher when I set it up. I could move the money set aside for the urgent bit of the roof but I want to see if I can cover it from underspending and squeezing the budget this month. I do have the CB to come in which we don't need for the budget and will have to squeeze £150 from somewhere. If I get the books and CDs/DVDs off to music magpie that will cover a lot of it.

I have re-started our veg box delivery but gone for a different box, 2-weekly to avoid waste and to encourage us to eat more veg. Got a free cook book too.

Technically I suppose I should be using the emergency fund for the repairs but I would rather not as I will then have to replace it when I have other things to save up for like our holiday and garden. DH found a great idea for a decking/seating area that would work really well in our garden and would incorporate one of the trellis panels we need and make use of the sunny spot in the garden. It would mean we need to do something with the bit directly outside the conservatory doors but a good path, a gravel border and some turf should do it rather than another seating area as this bit is in the shade from the house.

I have the amendments to my CV rewrite to send off today but cant find the right headspace for it so that may be a job for tomorrow.

DS and I are at the dentist later and I am sure I need to have a filling replaced as I have lost a bit.

Starting as I mean to go on I have set a list of task's to get done this week:

Go for a lunchtime swim or other exercise (dog walking excluded)
Walk the dog everyday I am at home - Wed, Thurs, Sat, Sun
Complete a couple of frogs off my list that didn't get done last year
Post a birthday card (have card, not sure about a stamp)
List the freezer contents and eat them up
Re-organise the contents of the dresser cupboards
    All washing and ironing
    Change our bedding
Complete amendments to my new CV
Eat lots of fruit and vegetables
Drink less tea and more water even if the tea is caffeine free/rooibos
    Christmas decs in loft
    Finish 2 presentations for work
    Clean main bathroom
Dust and vac upstairs and stairs
Chase quote for roofing work and agree date for urgent bit to be done
    Apply for BT CC
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
  • I like the idea of the veg box, I might pinch the idea and restart mine, Freezer and cupboards are full and will only need fresh fruit and veg and dairy for the next few weeks, it may help me spend less as it will keep me out of the supermarket.

  • I do 2 weekly veg boxes and find that it works out well. A weekly delivery means we never completely use up one box before the next comes!

    Happy New Year :)

Not so good news from the dentist. I need a filling. I have gone for a white one to replace what I have but they don't seem to last as long so I am going to stop being so vain and get a normal one which is £50 cheaper.

I am good at making lists but not so good at getting stuff done ;)

    Happy New Year!

I have changed to once a fortnight and changed the type of box I get to more usual varieties to avoid waste. Got a free cook book too for restarting my deliveries. :)

Some progress made yesterday and a fair bit or proper work done. :)

This morning I have applied for the GNR  I have gone from not running in months to joining a running club to do the C25K to entering a half marathon in a week! I like running and have done a marathon and the GNR before as well as a couple of 10Ks. I could probably run a couple of miles without stopping but liked the idea of a twice a week session and a slow start to get my running mo-jo back. Running is the only exercise that shifts the flab for me.

A few quid received in interest on the CA but have had to budget for increased energy DD. Amount to find to cover regular saver SO is £161.65. I could take the money from the other 'pots' I have set up for this year so there is no concern I could go overdrawn or have to use a CC or anything but don't want to do this. We are both doing dry January and our food bill should be low this month as we still have full freezers and cupboards. I might be able to scrape a bit out of DH fuel budget too.

    This Week's List

Go for a lunchtime swim or other exercise (dog walking excluded)
Walk the dog everyday I am at home - [STRIKE]Wed[/STRIKE], Thurs, Sat, Sun - went out at 7.30pm last night, poor dog was in shock
Complete a couple of frogs off my list that didn't get done last year
Post a birthday card (have card, not sure about a stamp) need a stamp but waiting until I have a spend day planned
List the freezer contents and eat them up - no listing but lots of eating:o
Re-organise the contents of the dresser cupboards
All washing and ironing - washing almost complete
    Change our bedding
Complete amendments to my new CV a job for this morning
Eat lots of fruit and vegetables - managed 4 yesterday and aiming for at least 5 today
Drink less tea and more water even if the tea is caffeine free/rooibos - still more tea than water
    Christmas decs in loft
Finish 2 presentations for work - first one 3/4 finished
    Clean main bathroom
Dust and vac upstairs and stairs
Chase quote for roofing work and agree date for urgent bit to be done - DH to do
    Apply for BT CC

DH has gone to work this morning full of flu :( I have been doing housework and it has been quick and easy as I have kept on top of it from when I did the big pre-Christmas-visitor deep clean. The dining room is a tip though as that is where I have put the Christmas decorations until we can get them in the loft. I may move them upstairs into one of the spare bedrooms so downstairs can be cleaned and tided. I am away a fair bit next week so I am hoping DH keeps on top of the kitchen at least.

Will walk the dog later and also attempt my first run of the year!

Both roofers came back with quotes. We have agreed to go ahead with one and have all the work done not just the urgent bit. This is because we need scaffolding and would have to pay for it twice if we split the work. Having this work done on the roof will also help seal the loft space and stop the wind whistling through it. No wonder our energy bill has just gone up £40/month:eek: We need the loft insulating. The energy rating thing they do when you sell a house said their was sufficient in there but I would beg to differ. It is wafer thin and a huge space.

In other news DH boss told him last night that he had been awarded a pay rise/increase to his basic salary. OTE has gone up by £5k and we are hoping that this has gone on his basic. They have changed the bonus structure too which will mean it is more achievable.

Right, off to crack on and get the housework finished and the freezer listed :)
