Caution on land registry

Hi all
We are in the process of buying a house and there is a caution on the register with a name on it. It just says '2000 in favour of xxxxxx (name). The proprietor on the register is the person selling the house. Is this an issue? I asked solicitor and they were very vague saying the sellers solicitors will have to discharge the caution.
Anyone able to help?
Thanks

I don't think that's vague, that's what will have to happen. probably will delay things0

Seller' solicitor will have to use some of the money received to pay off the caution. Shouldn't be a problem providing the price gives enough money to clear the caution and that xxxxx can be tracked down.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Same principle as any other charge over the property - you just proceed on the assumption that the seller will have enough money to pay off their mortgage etc in order to give you a clear title. The solicitors sort it out, not something for you to worry about.0

Section 5.5 of our Practice guide 19 - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/notices-restrictions-and-the-protection-of-third-party-interests-in-the-register/practice-guide-19-notices-restrictions-and-the-protection-of-third-party-interests-in-the-register gives general procedural information. As has been mentioned, this will need be resolved as part of the pre-exchange enquiries / investigations and your solicitor is best placed to advise you further on this.“Official Company Representative
