DRO change of circumstances
Options
Hi there, was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. My DRO was approved a few months ago but I've now managed to get myself a better temporary job with a higher income. However, the higher income is pretty much cancelled out by the fact that my living expenses have increased, especially as I now have to buy a train season ticket! I have done a new budget and my surplus is still under £50. The job finishes in a few months and my income will drop again. Does the OR do any checks or investigations into income or is it completely down to the debtor to tell them?
Am I right in saying I have to contact the OR to let them know this? Does anyone know what details I need to provide them and what evidence they might need to see so that I can get it all ready and in order.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Ultimately it depends on your intermediary; some would say to let them know of any changes so that records can be kept up to date and to avoid any potential issue with the DRO Unit.
I believe the guidance notes state that you have to notify the DRO Unit of any improvement in circs, the new job is that, but with the increased expenditure is the overall circumstance improved?
I would say to be on the safe side let your intermediary know...0 -
Hi Boris
I would second wba's comments. It is best to contact your DRO intermediary with details of the changes in your budget so that they can confirm that the new figures still conform to reasonable expenditure guidelines and as such will not make any waves.
There's every chance that an increase in wages may be offset by increased travel costs etc. but best not to make any assumptions.

Well I'd not say anything, no checks are done on you after your DRO is approved.
As it's a temporary situation, your still under the £50 surplus, and your outgoings have also increased, I would let sleeping dogs lie and not worry about it.
If you look at the budget your intermediary produced for your application, you will see it's not all listed individually, but grouped and rounded up.
So essentially, nothing has changed.

I'm going to agree with the other 2 intermediaries.
You are supposed to let the DRO Team know about changes during the moratorium, and you have a change.
However, if you start talking numbers with the DRO team without a copy of what was originally submitted, you could cause unintended problems.
So I would let your intermediary know first what has happened and be guided by them0
