Anyone used the ozbus London-Sydney?

HI all,
Has anyone used the ozbus to travel from London to Sydney?
It seems like a great "adventure" but was a little concerned about some of the places the bus passess through. If anyone has done this or a similar bus journey id love your thoughts!

Thanks!

Looks interesting though I would only want to do some parts, such as Turkey and Iran.
  • What a great way to see countries on the way to Australia. Would definately do it if I had £3.5K PLUS could get 12 weeks off work.

It is on its first trip now so the only people who have used it are on the bus now.

Some papers are reporting some people are not happy about problems they have encountered and a change of itinerary leaving out some place they hoped to visit.

Thanks firespire, brilliant article. You have got to wonder about some of the muppets travelling from this country though if they are in Iran and upset at the lack of alcohol. Or crying because they are lonely. Surely the ups and downs and unscheduled mishaps are what taking the road less travelled is all about?

I agree with vivatifosi in that if you sign up for that kind of trip you have to be *flexible* and it is probably only a couple of untravelled youngsters who are complaining who were going on the trip just for the sake of it and upset as they can't use their GHD's or find a McDonalds to 'eat out' in.

And to the OP - I am sure it would be fine by the time you booked it, got the time off work etc, but there are many other companies that do 'link it' trips that would take you a similar route.

If you didn't like your fellow bus passengers, you would be kind of snookered and 38 people is quite a lot as it invariably splits.

Better off travelling in a smaller group I say.

Reminds me of my trip to Australia-we had several muppets who missed their Mums, missed their dogs and the guy who whined that the Perth chippie didn't do mushy peas and that the (free) meal at a hotel didn't have Yorkshire pudding like he got at home (Leeds).
We were treated royally as the guests of the Western Australian Department of Tourism and these moaning muppets were a complete embarassment especially as the entire trip was completely free (travel agent's educational).
I'd love to have the time and money to do a trip like Oz bus !

Me too duchy, I'd go in a shot if I had the time and money!

I once went on a coach tour in America with my OH where a couple of elderly British ladies whined non stop. They didn't like the fact we were young yet could afford the trip, that the trip was trilingual (it was in the literature), compared Las Vegas to Blackpool, Yosemite to the Peak District, and the piece de resistance - The Grand Canyon to the Cheddar Gorge... Some people shouldn't be allowed passports.
