But if you make a withdrawal which results in the monthly balance not growing by £100 then you don't get the bonus interest rates but the far lower standard rates. So it would be fine if you need to take some money out and put it back in again within the same interest month, but if it is a longer-term withdrawal the resulting interest rate is not competitive.

Yep but for me I'm likely to have either £0 or c£10k in there so unlikely to have any money in there getting the non competitive rate after a withdrawal and then when put money back in later on then will get the bonus rate again given the increase will be based on a new balance of £0.

Yes, that should work, so long as the money goes back in during the subsequent interest month, or you can increase the balance by £100. I have to say I'm looking forward to not needing my account, it is one of the strangest ones I've come across, especially the way the statements are produced.

  • I transferred money from my Virgin ISA on Monday this week. Requested the money at 7.30am, checked my NatWest current account at 8.45am when I got to work & the money was there & cleared. Can't complain at that!

withdrawals from skipton's online accounts always seem to arrive on the same day (though i'm not sure they guarantee this).

they currently have an account paying 0.81% - http://www.skipton.co.uk/savings/easy-access/e-saver
