Anybody ever owned a KIA Cerato? Me and the wife have been looking at a 2005 model as they seem cheap. Anyone got any experience of them? Ta.

  • I had a Kia Picanto about two years ago but did not get very good mileage. Other than that it was a great little car. Not sure if the Cerato is a larger car or not.

  • I have an 05/05 Cerato LX. It is a nice car to drive and has plenty of room. It was cheap to buy but is good value with decent finish. My only quibble is that the mpg is not that great. On long motorway journey and driving staeadily I was getting 38mpg. Hope this helps.

I have a Kio (Rio though) and it is 5 years old. I love it and am not ready to replace it. For the price it does great, I get 300 miles from a tank of fuel which now costs around £33 to fill up (not sure on MPG and all that) and it has done great in all that time. We extended the warranty with Kia to 5 years and I've never needed it all - I did it more for peace of mind, but for reliablility it is fantastic and I would have no qualms in getting another Kia again. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles the other cars do but I bought it for reliability not so that people can say how good it looks. HTH.

Had a Kia Carens from new, zero problems in first four years. Was offered 2 years extended warranty for £500 which included full RAC membership too - a bargain!
A little way into year 5 had first problem, a fuel leak - all fixed under the extended warranty no problem. As there was now less than 8 months of ext. warranty left we just traded it in for a new Kia Sportage - SUPERB! Koreans built car with Japanese principles and Japanese cars top most the quality/reliability surveys. Its only the design that has lagged behind a bit - not any more. The Cerato is a good car but a bit supersceded by the new Cee'd which is as good as a VW Golf for a lot less and I would bet a months pay will be more reliable (VW doesn't offer a 7 year warranty on its car!) Kia servicing is cheaper too.

Thanks, but I know of that forum. Its mostly occupied by Koreans with the previous version which wasn't very good. Especially as most the owners in Korea seem to service/repair them themselves! Some problems with the all new model launched in 2005 with the 111bhp diesel. The revised model from 2006 with a very refined and strong 138bhp diesel is excellent.
