House Buying

Hi All,
Cut a long story short we are in the process of buying a house and have now got to the point of exchange of contracts.
My solicitor is having problems contacting the sellers solicitor to exchange, we have told the sellers and they have advised us their solicitor is ready to exchange also, but for some reason our solicitor is getting no reply from theirs email or phone (it sounds like they are a big conveyancer company)

My question is, am I allowed to send an email to the sellers solcitor just basically saying contact our solicitor?

I know the whole point in having a solcitor is that they do the communications but I'm not sure what else we can do to get this sorted.

Surely an email wont hurt?

There's nothing to stop you sending an email, however I suspect it will be ignored. If the sellers solicitor is ignoring your solicitor, what are the chances of them replying to you?

Ask the EA involved to earn their fee and chivy the solicitor up.

It's not going to help either. If it does anything it will just irritate them. They're not allowed to enter into any correspondence with you anyway.

Get on to the EA, they will be able to contact the vendors solicitors.

Bear in mind the seller may be having second thoughts!

By pushing, you may push them to make a decision - and you might not like the outcome.

As above, no, you should not contact their solicitor.

Polite chasing, but be I'd tread slightly carefully - no ultimatums or too much pressure...

Already chased EA and they have spoke to the solcitor are apparently waiting for some information from the sellers.
Contacted the sellers, that information is with the solicitor!!
Why cant they communicate with each other!!!

Are you in direct contact with the sellers?

Did the EA indicate what information in particular the solicitors were waiting for?

It can be like Chinese Whispers sometimes, which is incredibly frustrating.

However, as hazyjo says, the sellers may be stalling.

Yeah we are in contact with them, it was something to do with their ID not matching their home address, he hasnt changed his address on his license so they needed further ID, bearing in mind they have had this since January and decide to check it now!!!

Sellers have said that information has been sent, but the funny thing is the infomration was sent before the EA spoke to the solicitor.

They are apparently a large conveyancing company so it seems you speak to someone different every time.

the sellers have told us the solicitor has everything they need and they are ready to exchange!

The only person you should be dealing with is your solicitor. Keep on at him, do not contact other party's solicitor, very unprofessional to do that.
