Unless the business owner is willing to share all the necessary information with you, there's very little you can do. With only a gut feeling and no evidence, you need to be careful what you say about the solicitor.
The solicitor may well have some kind of deal going on in the background which will be easier to push through once the business owner isn't there to raise objections.
The people who will lose out are the beneficiaries of the will.0 -
Thanks Mojisola - This is concerning to hear that a 'background deal' (which is exactly what we think) can possibly be made easier without the owner there. And yes I agree that there is very little we can do without any evidence. We are at a loss with what direction to take, we can easily turn our head the opposite direction but we dont want to regret ignoring this.0

Your concern for the plight of your fellow man is truly heartwarming, or at least it would be if you weren't also trying to buy the business which is, was, and could still be a competitor to your own.
Furthermore, to deflect attention from your own less-than-alturistic motives by making allegations of fraud and suchlike by the solicitor when you clearly aren't in possession of all of the facts seems like sour grapes at best and rank hypocrisy at worst.
You have considered the simple explanation that someone else has come in with a better offer than yours haven't you?0 -
It thoroughly entertains me how low seem people can go on forums, you wouldn't say that face to face now would you?
Yes. We are interested in this business to buy, that's how this all started?
We have worked with this business for several years and know the owner very well. To suggest we are trying to capitalise on this persons misfortune is sick, they are terminally ill (i.e they will die within a short period of time in case you didn't understand what this means). We would hate for their business which has had decades of work put into it grabbed by someone.
Very sorry for being human.0 -

When was the business put up for sale? Why didn't the owner contact you right away to inform you of the opportunity?0
