No response to reduced offer-how long to wait?

I had my survey back for the flat I'm buying 2 weeks ago and put in a reduced offer to reflect the surveyor's valuation. The vendor (a developer) asked the estate agent to query the valuation with the surveyor, who was very professional and explained his reasons but I haven't heard anything since!
I want to know what's happening but don't want to be too keen and blow it. Should I tell my solicitor to pause any proceedings to save running up expenses (if I can do this?) or email the EA today?
Thanks

I'd pause proceedings for the reasons you mention, and inform the EA that they won't be resumed until you have confirmation that the revised offer has been accepted. Furthermore, I'd give a deadline by which acceptance of the revised offer must be recieved by, after which I'd withdraw - say you need to hear back by the end of next week, otherwise you'll be walking away.0
