Amazon Protect -any experiences?

Hi all,
I'm about to update my Mobile Phone, and as I have a SIM-only plan I'm buying one outright. The model I've got my eye on is currently best-priced on Amazon, and there's an option to take out a warranty via Amazon Protect that looks a pretty good deal - it only covers accidental damage, but then again that's my main problem - I have dropped a couple over the last few years with screen-breaking effects.... the phone is just under £150, and the cover is £22.50 for one year, £37.50 for two. However, I can't find any reviews of the service - so, has anyone on here used it, and if so what was your experience like?

Cheers

Rob

I can only see the Protect offered on Kindle devices?

Links followed from a search show Protect as unavailable. A-Z protection now?

Got a link to an item with Protect offered?

I'm not allowed to link yet, but if you look at for example the Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus on Amazon then I see the option to add Amazon Protect - whether this is because I'm a Prime member I'm not sure....

It's not so much what products it's available on, it's whether anyone's actually had to have a repair or replacement using it that I'm interested in - ie was it handled well, badly, etc.

I believe the policy does not cover cosmetic damage which does not cause problems with the function of the item. Does this mean that some instances of cracked screens are not covered?

I was thinking of covering a laptop with it. It turns out that breakdowns are not covered for the first year which gives me second thoughts. In some cases, this would make the protect plan rather useless.
Some laptop warranties do not cover all manufacturer defects for the first year. I have observed a review where a key fell off a laptop but it wasn't covered, probably because it was physical damage.
This makes me inclined to take out insurance elsewhere. I have already bought the laptop. What would you suggest?

I find it annoying that I have to purchase the protect plan on the same day. If I want the protect plan after getting the product I would have to return it and then buy the product again with amazon protect. The plan should have some more flexibility. I think they should also cover breakdowns for the first year as well.
Claims have no excess, the company has poor advertising because the fact that there is no excess to a claim puts this scheme at an advantage to external insurance.

Is there any way I can get amazon protect on an item bought on a different day?
I have the Barclays tech pack but I do not wish to pay £75 to a claim and I wish I could have gotten the Protect plan. The plan would also be better if it could cover breakdown for the first year cos some manufacturers have a bad reputation for customer service.
Is it worth taking out insurance on a rugged laptop?

I guess the buy it on the same day protects them from people that purchase items and then break it and then take out insurance to cover it.

Is insurance worth it, only if you need to claim on it and its actually cheaper and more cost effective than just buying a new one.

Sister claimed for a laptop on her insurance, the replacement was a piece of junk so she would have been better off not claiming and just buying a new one. She could have chosen the replacement.
