USA Car Rental insurance query

HI all,
We're about to go to Orlando for 10 days. We've got a car hire included in the cost of the holiday (Virgin Holidays) from Alamo. Just trying to work out the best way to get insurance sorted out.
The rental only comes with basic 3rd party cover included so we definitely need something on top of this. I'd rather not buy direct from the rental company as this will presumably be very expensive. What are the options? I'm aware of excess insurance from the likes of Bettersafe. They also have a product that covers the excess but also includes a Collision Damage Waiver. This doesn't seem to cover theft though.

Any suggestions on what to do, or do I just need to buy Alamo's overpriced insurance (topped up with excess insurance)?
Thanks
Malcolm

Have you checked how much they charge first? There can be delays between the payment being required and your 3rd party excess cover actually pay out.
Unless their charges were extortionate i would take what they offer.
I wouldnt choose that company though. Google duedil and pop the company number in... 08162356

I have traveled many times to Orlando, sometimes i buy just a flight and sometimes a flydrive because its cheaper. When i buy a flydrive i never take their car because the insurance is more expensive than renting a car from a uk broker which includes the rental and all insurances.
try

For the last couple of trips I have not taken any insurance out with the Car Rental company and used Bettersafe at £66.98. This covers Worldwide including CDW and SLI for the length of the trip. I had a thought and is this pefectly acceptable if you have an accident.0

Last time I rented a car in US, I found that full collision waiver insurance cost only around 25% of the rental. Even so, the rental co was coy on giving an insurance quote in advance so as usual the insurance had to be bought on the spot. I knew about separate policies you could buy in the UK before traveling (used these in Europe) but decided the US was the one countty where I don't want to get in legal a dispute between insurers.0
