Bus travel in Spain??

Hi there,
Is there a way I can travel by public transport from Alicante to Malaga and then from Malaga to Jerez La Fontana.

I tried searching on the net and the trains I can find do it through a connecting traing taking you to Madrid or seville.

I wanted to know if anybody over here has any idea about the local bus travel along the coast.

Thanks
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T

I know for a fact there is a very good bus service from Alicante to Malaga, (used to take about 6 hours! but I am sure it is faster now) and I am pretty certain that you will find connections to Jerez la Fontana? / Jerez de la Frontera. Unlike here, the public transport is excellent over there, and the prices very very reasonable.

Macgyver - you need to go to the bus station in Alicante (beware their English is as bad as my Spanish) and you will be able to pick up a bus there. The bus service in Alicante is better than here for sure because I have used it to travel from Alicante up to Xihona in the mountains just because I wanted some turrone. I have also used the bus to get to Torreveija and other places. Buses are also quite cheap too which is great.

Hope you get to where you are going.

You'll probably need to change in Seville to get to Jerez

There is a train from Alicante to Murcia and then continues to Lorca www.renfe.es you may be able to get a bus from Murcia or Lorca to Malaga

There is also a train route from Malaga-Bobadilla-Dos Hermanas-Jerez, but may need some changes.

There is a bus service Malaga-Algeciras, but not sure how you would do Algeciras-Cadiz, there is a train from Cadiz-Jerez, which I've been on and is very easy.

BTW The www.ave.es train from Madrid to Seville is fast.

  • Portillo Busses operate from Malaga to Jerez. I used them years ago to get from Fuengirola to Chiclana. It's a nice scenic drive along the coast with good views of Africa on a clear day. I'm not sure of the route it would take to get to Jerez, but it would probably be similar.
