May I say how disappointed we are with them. Went up to their nearest store with the intention of buying the OH a new camera 9about £300). They are well displayed and held in place buy a security cable as you'd expect. What we did not expect was that none of the cameras was charged up so we could not test out the particular features we want. So its down to Jessops etc and a lost sale for John Lewis.
ps Nearby Currys had cameras charged and running but not the model we wanted.

I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

You do not have to purchase from the shop which has a demonstration model!
You can test the product wherever you like, but a true money saver will purchase from the outlet with the keenest price (including any extended warranty).0 -

I'd test it at Currys and buy it online from JL.0

Warranty after sales service > no way Currys .0

When I used to work at a JL, if a camera was not charged, all you had to do was ask and we could have grabbed a charged battery.
Between actually serving customers and people leaving the cameras on after testing rather than switching them off (and being chronically under-staffed because JL refused to hire enough people... there's no profit in matching prices) it was easy to miss that certain cameras ran out of charge.
So we kept charged batteries out back to switch over just in case. Did you try asking?
Of course that wouldn't stop the people moaning about the alarm going off when we changed a battery, but it's not like you can please anybody.
But if it was a canon, panasonic or nikon camera, all you'd have to have done is spoken to someone half competent... did you try that though?0 -

It's not difficult to read up about a purchase like this before buying then you choose where to buy. What I'm wondering here is why didn't you do this?
Then also just do the simple thing of return it if you didn't like it and get a full refund?
With your current actions you've left yourself with a company which doesn't have the best after sales service in the world.
It just seems like you're cutting off your nose to spite your face with this one with some lax post claiming you're the winner the they're the loser which blatantly isn't the case.0 -
1) did read up but spending £300 we want to actually try it.
2) returns are about 30 miles away so want to be right 1 st time
3) only looked at Currys who did not have correct model so did not buy.
Will keep looking.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
