Monza Preloaded Card-Mexico

Hi All
This is more an info thing than a complaint as we can't do much about it now. Just came back from Cancun in Mexico and took a Monza prepaid travel card to use while I was there.
Issues from the start, most retail outlets wouldn't accept it, the card was declined 3 times on the card reader. So couldn't be used like a MasterCard as previously expected. We were told by locals not to use the ATM's on the streets as they are used for cloning cards so we were restricted to a Bank or our hotel to retrieve our money which charged 94 Pesos/£2.10 every time we got cash out. The intention was to use this card like a MasterCard which was the point of it but in the end we were just trying to get the money out of it in cash so at least we had something to spend. I realise £2.10 fee isn't a lot but we chose this method so there were no fees accept the exchange rate fee so a little disappointed that there was such an issue. I emailed Monza while we were in Mexico and basically we were told it was a new system and they couldn't really do a lot. So if anyone is thinking of using this card I would think again.

Were your other cards, MasterCard/VISA, accepted at the retailers where Monzo failed?Evolution, not revolution0

Hi eDicky
I didn't try other cards as they have a large fee attached if I used them aboard which was the reason I wanted this card to work. Monza said it was because the connection timed out so can assume it may do it on all cards rather than just this prepaid card.0
