On Demand Car Insurance for Young Drivers
My 17 year old has just passed his driving test and now looking at options for him driving our car. While he was learning we used a company called Covered on Demand to book days when he was using the car which was fantastic but as soon as he passed the cover ceased. This cover was separate to our policy and only covered him on those days/times we'd booked for a correspondingly lower price.
I've found a similar company called Cuvva that do policies for limited cover but unfortunately it only is for drivers age 19 and over. Has anyone come across other companies that do this kind of cover?
He's only likely to be driving a couple of days per month and most times will be in the car with us - designated driver if we're out and having drinks! The cost for adding him to our car as named driver is prohibitive at over £3000 and even getting a new car will still be around the £1000 mark.

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue but after speaking to my insurance company I found a solution. Admiral cover 17 year olds on temporary cover basis which looks like it's around £20 per day.
For 2-4 days a month it will be much cheaper than having him on the insurance and means I don't need to sell the car. Happy days!Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Jim's solution looks good, but you could also look at Marmalade.koru0
